Utah's IT industry is booming!

It's a great time to be in Utah if you are in the IT industry. My group of companies is hiring Web Developers and I would image that unemployment for Web Developers is less than 1%. There are not a lot of guys out there looking right now. That's actually a great sign.

Another positive from that is that it makes companies adjust and become more competitive. Some of our companies have realized that you must pay a little more to attract good people, so they've adjusted accordingly. That creates a healthy job market.


Now on the flip side, this can create a barrier to entry for the guy just starting out as a developer. Don't worry, you live in Utah. One of the great things about living in this state is that there are so many start-ups and small businesses where a guy has an opportunity because they have tighter budgets. Also, these type of companies are willing to take risks on a you. That knack for risk is what launched their business in the first place. Lastly, small businesses can use you to fill more than one position. They might hire you to be a developer and buy some books on networking and server administration to help out in those areas too.
